Srilanka, Jan. 28 -- The Government of Japan has agreed to provide a grant of 300 million Yen to Sri Lanka at the request of the Sri Lankan government, for the procurement of 28 garbage compactors to enhance waste management efforts under the 'Clean Sri Lanka' programme.

The 'Clean Sri Lanka' programme aims to transform the country into a clean, sustainable and environmentally responsible model.

A key challenge to achieving this vision has been the lack of advanced waste management infrastructure.
