Srilanka, May 7 -- Sri Lanka's democracy has developed and has become just like what you see in the countries such as UK as only a few have turned up to vote in the local government elections compared to elections in the recent past, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe said today.
"It seems that most of the voters who have turned up are the ones who are close to certain candidates," Wickremesinghe told the media after casting his vote at the College House in Colombo.
"However, we want the candidates of our party to do well at this election," he added.
