Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Sri Lanka officially became a State Party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Boundaries after submitting its instrument of ratification to the United Nations yesterday (16), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism announced.
The Ministry described the ratification as a significant milestone in Sri Lanka's leadership in maritime governance. It highlighted the country's longstanding role in international maritime affairs, including its contributions to advancing the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in 1982.
