Sri Lanka, Jan. 9 -- Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne today dismissed a request by the Opposition to appoint a select committee to probe the appointments, transfers and promotions of judicial officers.
In his ruling, the Speaker stated that the legislature does not have the power to interfere with the judiciary. He added that forming such a committee would violate the Constitutional principle of separation of powers.
