Srilanka, Feb. 20 -- Claiming that the security of the country is at stake, Opposition MP Dayasiri Jayasekara said the Speaker of Parliament must take the responsibility if any of the MPs is murdered.
Speaking during the budget debate, the MP said the Speaker of Parliament is the guardian of the Members of Parliament and that he must take the responsibility if anything happens to an MP.
"The security of the country is at stake. The Speaker is the guardian of the MPs. He must take the responsibility if something happens to the lives of the MPs or if they are murdered. We do not need security. But, we are not ready to face any shootings," he said.
