Sri Lanka, June 15 -- The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) deployed its first-ever Aeromedical Evacuation Team (AMET) to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Central African Republic on 14 June 2025.

The team, led by Group Captain G.S.S. Perera, comprises six medical personnel, including two officers and four airmen. They will carry out aeromedical evacuation duties in support of ongoing UN operations.

Prior to their departure, the AMET made a formal courtesy call on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, on 13 June. The Commander extended his best wishes and highlighted the significance of their mission in strengthening the SLAF's role in global peacekeeping efforts.
