Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- Sri Lanka will go bankrupt again in 2028 as it has failed to maintain adequate economic growth to earn the USD 5.5 billion needed to repay loans annually from 2028, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said today.

Premadasa made this remark while speaking to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) local government members in Ampara.

"We proposed a dialogue with the IMF and sought amendments to the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) Agreement, but the government does not seem to be interested in it," he added.
