Colombo, April 16 -- A Sri Lanka expatriate worker in Dubai who was returning to the country last morning was nabbed by the Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for attempting to smuggle foreign cigarettes worth over Rs. 3.4 million.

The 24-year-old man, a resident of Colombo, had returned on SriLankan Airlines flight UL 226 from Dubai early last morning.

According to Customs sources, all his three bags were packed with cigarettes consisting of 22,800 sticks in 114 cartons.

The Customs forfeited the tobacco and ordered the passenger to pay a fine.
