Srilanka, May 7 -- Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) secured control of the Akurana Pradeshiya Sabha with 14,638 votes and 13 seats.
National People's Power (NPP) followed with 11,492 votes and 10 seats.
Independent Group 2 received 1,982 votes (2 seats), United National Party (UNP) obtained 1,756 votes (1 seat), and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) polled 1,416 votes (1 seat).
Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) gained 1,365 votes (1 seat), while Independent Group 1 and the United National Alliance also secured one seat each.
Meanwhile, National Congress (NC) claimed victory in the Akkaraipattu Municipal Council in the Ampara District, receiving 7,902 votes and 11 seats.
