New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- Former Minister Shashindra Rajapaksa, who is currently in remand custody over charges under the Public Property Act, has filed a bail application before the Colombo High Court.
After considering submissions, High Court Judge Lanka Jayaratne fixed the matter for October 2 to examine the facts relating to the bail request.
Rajapaksa was arrested by the Bribery Commission on August 6 in connection with an incident where compensation of Rs. 8.85 million was allegedly obtained by exerting pressure on officials of the Damage Assessment Office.
