Sri Lanka, May 26 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a red weather warning for several sea areas around Sri Lanka due to the intensified southwest monsoon conditions currently affecting the island.
According to the latest advisory, the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam and Mannar, and from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, are expected to be very rough at times, with wind gusts reaching 60-70 kmph.
As a result, naval and fishing communities are strictly advised not to venture into these sea areas until further notice.
In addition, wind speeds may reach 50-60 kmph in the sea areas from Chilaw to Galle via Colombo and from Kankasanthurai to Trincomalee via Mullaittivu, prompting offici...
