Sri Lanka, May 29 -- A seven-member group of persons travelling in a double cab was arrested by Silavathura Police, while in possession of a high accuracy metal detector, police said.
The Silavathura Police in a joint operation with the Police Special Task Force set up a snap roadblock on information received and took the group into custody.
The arrested men who are in the ages from 31 to 60 years, are residents of the Thabbowa, Silavathura, Manpuri, Kanagarayankulam, Puttalam, Suriyawewa and Pudukuduirippu areas.
The seized high accuracy hand-held metal detector is usually used to find gold and gems.
The police are conducting investigations to determine the motive of the group to have such a device in their possession.
