Colombo, Nov. 1 -- Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala has said that the current security situation is not serious enough to warrant routine protection for ministers, parliamentarians, or Pradeshiya Sabha chairpersons.
He said that if credible threats existed, the government would take necessary action and assured that measures have already been implemented for MPs confirmed to be under threat.
Temporary security has been provided to Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi's Batticaloa District Parliamentarian Shanakiyan Rasamanickam and Samagi Jana Balawegaya's Kalutara District Parliamentarian Jagath Withana.
