Srilanka, May 16 -- Sampath Bank PLC yesterday announced the appointment of Sanjaya Dias Pujitha Gunawardana as its new Managing Director, effective September 24, 2025, subject to regulatory approvals, according to a stock filing.

Gunawardana, the current Chief Strategy Officer, will also serve as Managing Director Designate from July 1, 2025.

The incumbent Managing Director, Ayodhya Iddawela Perera, will complete her term on September 23, 2025. With over 35 years at Sampath Bank, Gunawardana has held senior roles in strategic planning, retail banking, and IT. The board is confident his expertise will enhance shareholder value.
