Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Rs. 2,000 commemorative currency note, issued recently, will be gradually released into circulation through licensed commercial banks, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) said.
The note, released on August 29, 2025, marks the 75th Anniversary of the CBSL.
To ensure the smooth integration into the financial system, licensed commercial banks are currently in the process of calibrating their cash-handling machines. As this process continues, the note will be introduced in phases through the banks.
The CBSL has called for public cooperation during this transition and assures that the new note will be fully accepted across all banking channels once the machine calibration is completed.
