Srilanka, Feb. 12 -- Colombo, Feb 12 (Daily Mirror) - A robber bit off part of a police officer's earlobe while being arrested on suspicion of stealing cash and jewellry from pilgrims in the Anuradhapura sacred area.

The injured officer was admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

The Sub-Inspector (SI) attached to the Udamaluwa Police was on duty near the lane from Ruwanweliseya to Sri Maha Bodhi when he received information about the suspect loitering near a water storage tank. As the officer attempted to arrest him, the suspect bit off part of his earlobe. However, with the help of another officer who rushed to the scene, the SI managed to apprehend the suspect.
