Colombo, April 24 -- A record 155 fresh complaints related to the upcoming Local Government elections were reported within a single day, marking the highest daily figure recorded since March 20.

The complaints were received by 4:30 p.m. on April 23, according to the Election Commission.

Since March 20, a total of 2,453 complaints have been filed regarding the LG polls.

Of the complaints, the National Centre for Election Complaint Management has received 239 complaints, while the remaining 2,214 were lodged at District Centres for Election Complaint Management.

Furthermore, all reported complaints have been classified as violations of election laws, including 12 incidents of violence.
