Srilanka, June 8 -- The Dehiwala Police launched an investigation following the theft of a Blue-and-Yellow Macaw, valued at over Rs. 500,000, from the National Zoo in Dehiwala.
The incident is believed to have occurred on the night of June 4, and CCTV footage from a nearby shop reportedly captured the suspected thief near the zoo premises.
According to zoo officials, the bird was one of 30 Blue-and-Yellow Macaws kept in a dedicated enclosure. The theft came to light when the zookeeper during his morning inspection noticed the lock on the cage had been. He immediately alerted senior zoo officials.
