Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne, who had been evading arrest for several days, appeared before the Colombo High Court today.

A notice had been issued ordering Senaratne to appear in court, after he was wanted by the Bribery Commission for questioning but repeatedly failed to respond to their summons.

In early August, the Colombo Magistrate's Court issued a warrant for his arrest following submissions made by the Bribery Commission. Investigators alleged that the former minister ignored multiple summons and avoided giving a statement regarding a controversial contract awarded during his tenure.
