Sri Lanka, June 20 -- The Railway Controllers' Union has announced that it will launch a 48-hour token strike starting from midnight today (19), in protest against the authorities' failure to resolve several longstanding issues.

Union Secretary K.D. Duminda Prasad told the media that despite raising their demands for over two years, the railway administration had failed to offer acceptable solutions, forcing the union to resort to trade union action.

He said that although discussions were held with the Railway administration, the Transport Minister, and the Ministry Secretary, the instructions given to resolve these matters had not been properly implemented.
