Sri Lanka, Dec. 10 -- The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has urged the public to beware of fraudulent messages circulating on social media claiming to offer relief to those affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

According to the ministry, a large number of misleading messages have been shared via WhatsApp, Facebook and other platforms, requesting personal details from individuals under the guise of providing disaster assistance.

The ministry emphasised that all official data collection for post-disaster relief is carried out strictly through District and Divisional Secretariats, supported by field officers attached to the ministry and Grama Niladhari officials, as part of the government's established relief mechanism.
