Sri Lanka, Dec. 18 -- In light of the increased risk of landslides in areas showing early signs of slope failure, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has urged the public to exercise caution, particularly in Udadumbara in the Kandy District.
NBRO Geologist Wasantha Senadheera said residents in affected areas should avoid unnecessary travel and take precautions to protect their lives, as the region has recorded more than 200 mm of rainfall.
He said landslide evacuation Red Notices have been issued for eight Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts due to the prevailing weather conditions.
