Sri Lanka, Dec. 8 -- Since disaster-affected regions still pose serious risks, Director of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Pradeep Kodippili has urged people to refrain from bathing or entering waters with strong currents.
Speaking at a media briefing, Kodippili noted that relief operations are underway for communities impacted by the recent hazards and appealed to residents to report any urgent issues through the DMC hotline 117.
He cautioned that heavy rainfall has saturated the soil, increasing the likelihood of landslides, and advised the public to remain alert and evacuate immediately whenever a red alert is issued.
