Srilanka, Feb. 5 -- The Vehicular Emission Test Trust Fund of the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) urged the public to wear face masks whenever possible and seek immediate medical attention if experiencing breathing difficulties due to slightly unhealthy air quality levels recorded in several districts.
According to the DMT, the decline in air quality is attributed to polluted wind flows from the north, influenced by transboundary conditions. Air quality levels may fluctuate between slightly unhealthy and unhealthy across the country in the coming days.
Currently, seven districts including Kurunegala, Kandy, Galle, Ratnapura, Embilipitiya, Trincomalee and Hambantota are experiencing slightly unhealthy air quality.
