Colombo, April 16 -- With temperatures rising to the 'Caution Level' as felt by the human body, National Hospital Colombo Accidents Ward Director Dr. Indika Jagoda advised the public to take necessary precautions to prevent heat strokes.

Addressing the media, Dr. Jagoda explained that the increase in temperature during April is mainly due to a rise in environmental humidity.

As a result, people working in open areas may experience discomfort due to direct sunlight. Symptoms such as dizziness, body aches, and excessive sweating may occur.

"With the prevailing high heat, there is a risk of heat strokes, which can be life-threatening if not properly managed," he warned.
