Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- Investigation has been launched into whether there had been any negligence of duties or delays in implementing the law on the part of the police when taking action against the road accident involving former Speaker MP Ashoka Ranwala, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said today.

He told the weekly briefing to announce Cabinet decisions that the investigation has been launched on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) considering the criticisms on police negligence.

The Minister said it is important to ensure public trust and added that the law will be implemented against MP Ranwala if he had committed any offences.
