Sri Lanka, June 14 -- A probe has been launched after a Bo tree collapsed at the Rajawaka National School, killing one student and injuring several others.

Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Madura Senaviratne, who visited the school, ordered a full report within a week and urged principals to report unsafe trees to authorities.

A three-member committee has been appointed by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Education Department to investigate into the incident.

Six students remain under treatment at the Balangoda Base Hospital, while compensation is being processed through the Suraksha insurance scheme.
