Srilanka, Feb. 18 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that the employers are in agreement to increase the monthly minimum wage of the private sector workers to Rs.30,000 by 2026.
This will be done under two stages.
Accordingly, the monthly minimum wage is to be increased to Rs.27,000, with effect from April this year, from the current Rs.21,000.
Under the second stage, the monthly minimum wage is to be increased to Rs.30,000, from 2026.
Meanwhile, the government has announced a salary increase for the government employees, with the basic salary being raised from Rs.24,250 to Rs.40,000.
The salary hike will be implemented in three phases.
