Srilanka, June 1 -- The Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA) announced today that it has decided to postpone the annual bus fare revision, which typically takes effect in July, until August.

LPBOA Chairman Gemunu Wijerathne told the media that the decision was made in light of the current situation in the country. "Although a bus fare revision is due, we have chosen to continue with the existing fares until August," he said.

Wijerathne said that the annual fare revision usually comes into force every July, but the association has the discretion to delay it after consulting with relevant authorities. "As an association, we have postponed fare revisions before, following discussions with the responsible ministers," he added.
