Sri Lanka, June 2 -- Marking the launch of the Inland Revenue Department's new online tax platform, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake became the first individual to file tax returns for the 2024-2025 assessment year.
The digital platform, officially launched this morning, will now serve as the sole channel for submitting tax reports starting with the 2024-2025 assessment year. President Dissanayake's submission was symbolically received as the first filing.
Speaking at the inauguration of National Tax Week at the Presidential Secretariat, President Dissanayake announced that measures would be introduced to reduce expenditures within the President's budget, with the aim of safeguarding public funds.
