Colombo, Nov. 22 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has urged Tamil and Muslim opposition parties to support the Government's efforts to foster inter-community understanding and build a peaceful, inclusive Sri Lanka.

Speaking at a meeting held this afternoon (22) at the Presidential Secretariat, the President stressed that every citizen must have the freedom to live with full respect for all religious and cultural identities.

He affirmed that the Government would not allow the country to be drawn into "any form of racist trap" and invited all parties to back the national initiative promoting unity and coexistence.
