Srilanka, May 15 -- Referring to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's statement on forming administrations in local councils, former MP M.A. Sumanthiran remarked that "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

In a post on X, Sumanthiran stated that President Dissanayake threatens he has a two-thirds majority in Parliament and also refers to the executive power vested in him.
