Colombo, Dec. 29 -- Post Cyclone deaths have been found to be more than the number of persons killed in a cyclone itself, a research has revealed.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa revealed this in Polonnaruwa while quoting a report of a research which has been carried out by the University of Monash.
"The Monash University has carried out this research in nine countries from the years 2000 to 2019. The research has taken into account some 15 million deaths. It has been found out that more people die during the post-cyclone period than the number of lives taken away by the cyclonic winds," Premadasa said, quoting the research report.
