Sri Lanka, Dec. 8 -- Health authorities have issued a warning to people affected by the recent floods, saying there is a possibility of conjunctivitis-commonly known as pink eye or sore eyes-spreading among those staying in safety centres across the country.

Consultant Corneal Surgeon Dr. Kusum Ratnayaka said the infection is spreading rapidly, and many districts are now reporting a sharp rise in cases. Doctors and public health officers are urging people to be extra careful.
