Srilanka, May 12 -- A scam is currently circulating at high speed, falsely claiming to offer internet facilities and 50 GB of mobile data under the names of various leading telecommunications companies, police said.

According to a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Sri Lanka Police, the scam dansala appears to be timed to coincide with the Vesak full moon day and is designed to trick unsuspecting users into entering personal information into fraudulent applications.

Police advised that these offers are entirely fake and warned the public not to provide any personal details, especially on unverified websites or mobile applications.
