Sri Lanka, Dec. 2 -- Police have warned that the arrival of numerous relief teams and heavy vehicles is slowing road clearing and recovery efforts in disaster affected areas.

Police Media Spokesperson ASP F. U. Wootler expressed gratitude for the assistance but noted that in some districts, the influx of vehicles and motorcyclists filming or visiting affected sites has disrupted officials carrying out relief duties.

He said that such congestion poses safety risks and urged relief teams to coordinate with the Divisional Secretaries to ensure aid reaches the public efficiently.

Public wishing to provide assistance are encouraged to contact the Disaster Operations Centre.
