Sri Lanka, Dec. 12 -- Police said today that medical reports for the drivers, including former Speaker and MP Ashoka Ranwala, involved in the accident in Sapugaskanda last night, have been requested to determine whether they were under the influence of alcohol.
The Sapugaskanda Police have launched an investigation into a road accident involving a jeep driven by former Speaker Ashoka Ranwala, which collided head-on with another vehicle last night.
Police Spokesman ASP F.U. Wootler said at a media briefing that two people injured in the accident, including the former speaker, are receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital, while a six-month-old baby is being treated at the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital.
