Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- The Sri Lanka Police has launched a dedicated WhatsApp number to enable the public and police officers to report crimes and other concerns directly to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya.

The initiative, which came into effect on August 13, aims to strengthen communication between the public and law enforcement, and to improve responsiveness and transparency within the police service.

Police said the move was introduced in response to a growing need to protect public rights by giving priority to citizen concerns and providing a direct line to the IGP's office.
