Colombo, April 4 -- In response to reports circulating on social media that street dogs and beggars will be removed from areas that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit, the Sri Lankan Police have denied these claims.
The police clarified that neither the Acting Inspector General of Police nor the Police Headquarters have issued any instructions to the Police stations to remove stray dogs or beggars in connection with the visit.
Hence, Police assured that no action will be taken to remove street dogs or beggars for the duration of Prime Minister Modi's visit.
However, the Acting IGP has decided to investigate into the origins of these misleading claims circulating on social media.
