Sri Lanka, Sept. 12 -- A Police constable attached to the Karathivu Police Station in Ampara has been arrested by the Bribery Commission for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a businessman.

According to the Commission, the constable had demanded a bribe in exchange for returning the revenue licence of a businessman from Sainthamaruthu, which had been taken into police custody without any legal action.

The suspect was arrested at the police station and is to be produced before the Sammanthurai Magistrate's Court.
