Sri Lanka, May 25 -- A discussion was held at the Motor Transport Department (DMT) auditorium on the use of police CCTV cameras to detect vehicles emitting excessive smoke and to take formal action against offenders.

The meeting was attended by DMT Commissioner General Kamal Amarasinghe, the Commissioner of Information Technology, the Director of the Vehicle Emissions Trust Fund and senior officers of the Police Department.

The Vehicle Emissions Trust Fund is already implementing several strategies to address the growing health, environmental and climate-related issues caused by vehicle emissions.

The DMT Commissioner General said that the Vehicle Emissions Trust Fund is a valuable national asset.
