Sri Lanka, May 19 -- The Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau has arrested the gunman involved in the recent fatal shooting in Mount Lavinia.

Police said the suspect, a 28-year-old former Sri Lanka Air Force personnel, was taken into custody at Vihara Mawatha in Kottawa.

At the time of arrest, Police recovered a locally-made hand grenade, 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition and two motorcycle number plates.

He is accused of shooting at and killing a 19-year-old Dehiwala resident on May 5. The victim was gunned down by two unidentified individuals who arrived on a motorcycle.

Investigations have revealed that the arrested suspect was the shooter and is also linked to a previous shooting in Kadawatha.
