Sri Lanka, Jan. 13 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to develop selected areas of the Pelawatte Sugar Factory, owned by Lanka Sugar (Private) Company Limited, as tourist attraction sites.
The decision follows recognition of the potential to transform these locations into destinations of interest for visitors. The Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development presented the proposal, which was approved by the Cabinet.
Under the plan, expressions of interest will be called in accordance with prescribed procurement guidelines to identify suitable investors. Eligible investors will be invited to submit project proposals to develop the selected locations through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
