Sri Lanka, Nov. 10 -- The Court of Appeal was informed today that the police constable allegedly involved in the assault on Attorney-at-Law Gunaratne Wanninayake had been transferred to the Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters Station from the Kesbewa Police Station on disciplinary grounds, prior to this incident, in accordance with the Public Service Commission Procedural Rules.

Appearing for petitioner Wanninayake, President's Counsel Upul Jayasuriya told court that although the police constable had been transferred on disciplinary grounds, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) had failed to disclose this fact to court. He raised concern over how this policeman was assigned for duty at the Mount Lavinia Court premises.
