Sri Lanka, May 26 -- The main reason for many admission requests for intermediate grades cannot be accepted is due to irregular admissions in the past. As a result, some classes now have more than 50 or 60 students, making them difficult to manage, Education Ministry Secretary Nalaka Kaluwewe said.

He said that the Ministry will soon issue a new circular with clear rules for admitting students to intermediate grades in schools.

The Ministry continues to receive numerous requests from various groups seeking admission for children to intermediate grades.
