Sri Lanka, July 16 -- A SriLankan air passenger was arrested this morning (16) by customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) after attempting to smuggle a stock of "Kush" drugs valued at over Rs. 31.17 million into the country.
The 48-year-old suspect, a vegetable vendor from the Mattakkuliya area, had tried to pass through the airport's Red Channel when he was intercepted by alert customs officers.
According to officials, the suspect had brought in the drugs concealed in the packaging of umbrellas. He had reportedly purchased 50 tri-fold umbrellas from Thailand, removed 20 of them from their original packaging, and used the empty space to stash approximately 3.117 kilograms of the potent cannabis variant known as...
