Colombo, March 5 -- A 34-year-old male passenger was arrested early this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with 5.2 kilograms of Kush cannabis.
The arrest was made by officers from the Airport Narcotics Control, Customs Additional Director General and Media Spokesman Seevali Arukgoda confirmed.
The suspect had arrived at the BIA from Bangkok, Thailand, on Thai Airways flight TG 307 around 1 a.m. today. Upon inspection, the narcotics were discovered concealed in food packets inside his checked luggage.
The estimated street value of the seized Kush is approximately Rs. 52 million.
