Sri Lanka, Dec. 5 -- Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekera said the government will provide compensation subject to a maximum of Rs. 2.5 million to houses that have been partially or fully damaged due to recent disaster.
He told Parliament that the compensation will be paid based on the estimate of the damages caused.
The Deputy Minister said that Rs. 25,000 is given only as an initial grant to restore sanitation and clean the houses.
He requested opposition MPs not to mislead the people on the compensation process.
