Sri Lanka, April 7 -- Parliament has officially informed the Election Commission that a Parliamentary seat has fallen vacant with the demise of NPP Kegalle District MP Kosala Nuwan Jayaweera who passed away yesterday.

The Parliament Media Unit said this was done as per Clause 66 (A) of the Constitution.

The Returning Officer will send in the name of the person who is next in line on the NPP's Kegalle District list. The new MP will be sworn in once his or her name is gazetted.
