Srilanka, May 5 -- A total of 96,000 foreign nationals have contributed eye corneas so far this year, with the majority of donations going to Egypt, followed by Lebanon, Pakistan, Iraq, Kenya, and 56 other countries, the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society (SLEDS) announced.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, SLEDS President Sampath De Silva revealed that 59,374 cornea donations were contributed by Sri Lankans.
De Silva highlighted that Sri Lanka continues to be internationally recognized as a leading source of eye cornea donations, playing a vital role in supporting vision-restoring surgeries across the world.
